RECIPE: Spicy Applesauce

June 4, 2010

Here’s another way to interpret the meaning of “found feast”: a food or recipe that happens by accident. (Not that any of my works of art are ever anything but intentional. ;) ) Last night, DS wanted applesauce. He likes it with cinnamon, so he reached for the jar and sprinkled some on…only to discover it was chili powder! Upon tasting it, I discovered it’s really good that way. Of course, I’m the ONLY ONE IN THE WHOLE FAMILY WHO LIKES REMOTELY SPICY FOODS. /*end rant*/

Er, where was I? Oh, yes — the recipe. Well, it’s pretty simple, and I’m not even going to include the nutrition info, because it’s just whatever your particular jar/tub/can of applesauce says. I recommend the natural varieties, with no added sugar, but of course, feel free to sugar it up as needed!

Ingredients:
1 bowl applesauce
Chili powder to taste

Directions:
Pour applesauce in bowl. Sprinkle with chili powder (a very small amount is enough to add flavor, but if you like spicy, go for it). Eat with spoon, or whatever’s available. Enjoy!
